LYNYRD SKYNRD

Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour

BY KAY BROADBENT

It was a picture perfect summer night for a concert Lynyrd Skynyrd rolled into Xfinity center Mansfield, Mass.. The stage was set and primed for a bit of rock history.  Skynyrd lite up the stage from start to finish  starting out with “Working for the MCA” leaving nothing behind, playing all the favorites “What’s your name” – “That’ Smell” the befitting “Saturday night special” wow the band really thought about this setlist, spacing out the bigger hits throughout the set. Rounding out near the end of the show was a fan favorite “Gimme Three Steps” and closing it out they took us all the way back to “Sweet Home” “Sweet Home Alabama” that is…. Just when you thought it was over you were like hey dude what happened to “Free Bird”

How can this be a final tour without “Free Bird”?  well before we fly let’s understand why this is the bands final tour. Guitarist Gary Rossington, the one remaining original member of the group, explained that he has had issues with his heart lately and its largely the reason why they're calling it quits.

Ok now back to the concert, man I’ve seen these guys a few times but never have heard “Free Bird” played with such passion, heart (no pun) and soul…. Keep rockin the rest of the tour guys! Thanks for the Music….
